BEST SUNSET SPOT IN THE ALGARVE PORTUGAL

The sun sets in the west. So if you want to see a picture perfect sunset in the Algarve you need to head to the west coast.

The most obvious spot for enjoying the sunset in the Algarve is the lighthouse at Cape St. Vincent. You should know that this place is not a secret spot and gets crowded fast. So what you do instead is park your car a couple hundert meters before the lighthouse and start walking. But instead of following the road you will walk across the stones towards to ocean so you will end up approximately here.

Your view for the sunset will look something like that:

Important note: Wear closed shoes for this, no sandals or flipflips. You need to walk over a lot of sharp rocks so make sure you wear good shoes.

Cape St. Vicent is really close to Sagres so this is the perfect opportunity to grab dinner there before the sunset. Just make sure you leave early enough since you need to calculate some time to find a parking spot and a sunset-watching-spot.

My recommendation for dinner (and a drink) is The Hangout. There you get amazing Pasta for two and cool surfer vibes.

Dinner at The Hangout in Sagres before the sunset is a must.

Sunset at Picão

Another spot that you can reach from Lagos by car within the same time is Picão. One way takes about 40 Minutes by car.

Picão is a sleepy surfer town and a perfect place to watch the sunset from.

You can either have a drink at Ti Raul Bar and watch from there or walk up to the Fortress Arrifana.

Of course you can also see the nice colors of the sunset from Lagos or any other town in the Algarve. If you have the time I really recommend that you drive to the West Coast tho. Unless you are staying near Sagres be comfortable in driving back home when it’s dark.
