Best Dive Sites in Elba
Some of the most popular dive sites in Elba are wrecks, a marine protected area. Here comes an overview with some of the coolest and most interesting dive spots in Elba.
Elviscott Wreck
The Elviscott Wreck lies off the coast of Elba since the 70s and it’s one of the most famous wrecks of the island. During the past decades marine life has claimed this wreck and you can discover school of fish and macro life around the wreck. This wreck is only 12 meters deep so it’s a spot for every level of diver. There are two points where you can enter the wreck but make sure you feel comfortable with wreck diving before doing so.
Pro Tip: Go there early in the morning. It can get crowded really fast in the afternoon since the wreck is close to the shore and therefore also a popular spot for freedivers and snorklers.

Pianosa
Just like the wreck, this marine protected area is very beginner-friendly. You get excellent visibility and a rich marine life. Pianosa is a prison island and around a 40 minute boat ride from Elba. The area around pianosa is protected and you will notice the rich biodiversity immedietly. To go dive there you need to book a tour since only a limited amount of people are allowed to enter this area each week.
Capo Fonza
This was one of my favourite dive spots in Elba. Capo Fonza is an underwater rock formation that not only offers a canyon but also a steep wall where you can go as deep as 40 meters, if your certification allows it. On the dept of 32 meters you will find a grotto to explore. But don’t worry if you are a beginners. The rocks start about 10 meters under water, so there’s a lot for you to explore as well.
Corbelli Reef
In Corbelli you will find soft corals and rocky formations. Interesting here is the macro life. If you are patient enough and have a good eye you can spot a lot of nudibranches on the corals and rocks. This spot is approximatly 12 meters deep, so very beginner friendly. There is also a canyon where you dive through.
Punta Galera
An old mine right on the ocean makes this dive spot very special. The rock underwater appears black and silver. It’s unlike any other dive spot you’ve seen. This dive spot is for beginners and more experienced divers: Depts ranges between 10 and 25 meters.

Every season has something to offer.
Spring: fewer crowds, fresh marine life. You will need a 7mm wetsuit.

Pack all of your dive gear and make sure to bring your thickest wetsuit, since the water can still be a little cold. We also packed hoods and gloves and used them on every dive.
